VoIP vs analog phone services
What are the differences between VoIP phone service and traditional telephone lines? Learn which is the better choice for your business needs.
Comparing VoIP to Line Phone Systems
There are a few factors that will drive you to select one over the other that need to be taken into account before we perform a deep dive. The first is the need for any of the following: Mobile APP, Remote Working, System integration, and upfront costs will generally lead your o VoIP or Cloud Phone Systems. Whereas ease of use, wiring (if prior to 2010), and being more like a Lucent, Nortel, Toshiba Phone, and others may lead you to a Line Phone System.
Wiring
First, let’s address wiring: A majority of legacy or older systems prior to 2011 would have individual phone handsets connected to a processor on-premise. Generally, those phones are connected using traditional phone wires, not the modern data cable that an IP Phone would require. Therefore if you have one of these traditional line systems you could incur significant wiring costs.
What does VoIP or Cloud Costs
Often Cloud Phones or VoIP do not cost “less” but are divided into a monthly payment plan which reduces upfront costs, but over a 36-month period, the costs involved are comparable. Thecansrefore if you do not need the “Mobility or Remote working” Feature a structured fix-priced finance plan can be similar because in the 4th, 5th, and 6th years Cloud will actually cost more.
Mobile APPs & Remote Working
The significant benefits of an Internet Phone System come down truly to the ability to work almost anywhere with a good internet. Traditional Line Systems significantly limit or make the process too complex (more costly) to easily use these features. Mobile APPs must constantly change and upgrade to address changes in mobile phone operating systems or model phones which traditional systems just can not easily maintain. So if you need Mobility or Remote workers working over softphones or IP Phones from home then you really need to select the appropriate cloud option. ( see recommended options )
